HSBC is one of the largest financial and banking services organizations in the world. In Uruguay, the bank has 260 employees, is present in 8 branches, and serves a clientele of 50,000 individuals, both local and international.

It is the country's first fully digital bank, aiming to break away from the rigid hours of other local banks. In 2022, it took on the challenge of moving its headquarters to the 30th floor of Tower 4 of the World Trade Center in Montevideo, in a new business office model that offers greater flexibility to its employees, both in working hours and in the layout of the space. This headquarters features open collaborative spaces and no offices for managers.

With an investment of USD 1,500,000, the office is designed to reduce the carbon footprint and meet the highest and most modern standards of the bank, matching the offices of the group in Mexico, New York, and Singapore.

The project

To stay up to date with the new hybrid work trends and meet the group's standards for room integration, HSBC decided to incorporate state-of-the-art technology into its collaboration rooms. The goal was to improve the quality of image and sound in meetings and enable effective collaboration among employees, including those working from home.

To achieve this, they sought the support of Isbel to facilitate the implementation of a solution in collaboration with our partner Neat, a Norwegian brand considered top-of-the-line.

The project, a pioneer in the country and atypical due to its size, involved the installation of 14 collaboration rooms, with the implementation of 8 video conferencing systems and 6 touch devices, along with the touch screen controllers.

Technology to facilitate work.

The installation carried out by our team of Neat technology met HSBC's quality standards. The perception of the employees and users regarding the collaboration rooms significantly improved, considering them to be of high quality and superior in technology compared to the rooms of other companies in the industry.

With the new rooms, it is very easy to hold hybrid meetings between people who are in the offices and those who are working from home or other locations.

Another useful feature of the Neat equipment was the Neat Symmetry, which individually frames all the attendees in the room so they appear equally and closer on the screen, allowing remote participants to better see each person.

An additional feature that generates excitement among those using the rooms is the functionality to share content from laptops to the screens via ultrasound, without the need for cables—simply by bringing the devices closer together.

How does the bank evaluate the experience?

Testimony of Tabaré Aviega, Chief Technology Officer – HSBC Uruguay.

"The installation was flawless, and it matched the quality of the equipment. Users perceive that they are using high-quality rooms, and they try to take better care of them."

One of the features that sparks the most curiosity among users is the ability to bring the laptop closer to share content, as well as the split camera in video calls, with active tracking of participants as they move.

What did this project mean for Isbel?

We presented a complete and detailed proposal, supported by planning, project management, and collaboration with other parties (such as architects). Our solution, with Neat technology, met the quality and functionality expectations set by the bank.

The challenges we faced in this context included meeting HSBC's quality standards and ensuring that the installation was completed properly and on time. The support from the first client interaction to the end of the project was key to its success.
